Ferrari Teams Up with SK On to Advance Cell Technology

Ferrari, an iconic Italian sports car maker, has announced a partnership with SK On, an electric vehicle battery maker affiliated with SK Group. The agreement was signed at a memorandum of understanding ceremony at SK’s headquarters building in Seoul on Wednesday. SK On CEO Lee Seok-hee and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna were present for the event.

The collaboration between these two companies aims to push the boundaries of innovation in battery cell technology. Both companies plan to share their expertise and knowledge to drive advancements in this field. During the event, Lee expressed excitement about joining Ferrari’s electrification journey and emphasized the potential for offering customers new experiences and values through their combined expertise and technologies.

Ferrari’s CEO also shared high expectations for the partnership, noting that collaborations between companies and suppliers can lead to shared progress through shared ideas. This partnership represents a significant step forward in advancing battery cell technology for electric vehicles, as SK On has been providing batteries to Ferrari since 2019. The company’s batteries have powered models like the SF90 Stradale and SF90 Spider, as well as the latest PHEV models launched in 2021 and 2022 – the 296 GTB and 296 GTS respectively.
