From Basketball Championship to Resurfacing Project: Central York Boys’ Basketball Secures First State Title While PennDOT Plans to Revamp Business Loop 83 near York City

PennDOT announces that resurfacing of Business Loop 83 will begin on Monday.

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, Central York boys’ basketball secured their first state title with a thrilling 53-51 victory over Parkland at Giant Center in Hershey. The team’s hard work and determination paid off, culminating in a well-deserved championship win.

Meanwhile, PennDOT has announced that a resurfacing project is set to begin on Business Loop 83 near York City starting Monday. The project will cover the stretch from the South George Street (Exit 15) ramps at I-83 in York Township to West Drive at WellSpan York Hospital in Spring Garden Township. Additionally, work will be done on the ramps at Exit 15 and a section of South George Street up to West Drive.

During the project, short-term lane closures will take place during nighttime hours to minimize disruption. Lane closures will not be allowed between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., and at least one lane of traffic will be open when work is being done. Some ramps may face temporary closures at night as well.

The $4.4 million project is being carried out by JVI Group Inc., a company based in York Springs, Adams County, and involves base repair, milling, paving, minor drainage updates, guide rail updates, and other miscellaneous tasks. Motorists are advised to be cautious and alert when driving through the work zone.

The resurfacing project is scheduled to be completed by Sept
