Josh Jacobs Chooses Money Over Raiders: Pierce on Loss of Talented Running Back

Antonio Pierce expresses deep disappointment over Josh Jacobs’ departure: “That really stings”

Josh Jacobs, who had spent five successful seasons with the Raiders, recently made the decision to leave the team and sign with the Packers as a free agent. This news was met with disappointment by Las Vegas head coach Antonio Pierce, who acknowledged that the famous saying “money talks, BS walks” played a role in Jacobs’ decision to move on.

Pierce expressed his regret at losing the NFL’s 2022 rushing champion, stating that he was a vital member of the team and had a strong connection to the Raiders. However, he understood that decisions in the NFL often come down to business.

The departure of Jacobs, who rushed for 805 yards and scored six touchdowns in 13 games in 2023, was particularly impactful for the team. The year prior, he had led the league with impressive stats, including 1,653 rushing yards and 2,053 yards from scrimmage. These achievements showcased his talent and importance to the Raiders.

Despite his disappointment at losing such an important player, Pierce wished Josh well in his future endeavors.
