Saudi Arabia Embraces Diversification with Dragon Ball Z Theme Park and Qiddiya City Project

The world’s first Dragon Ball Z theme park is being built in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is making a big push to diversify its economy away from oil reliance by investing heavily in the tourism sector. One of its latest projects is a Dragon Ball Z theme park, which will be part of the kingdom’s Qiddiya project. The theme park will span 5.3 million square feet and feature seven different areas inspired by the original Japanese anime television series, including over 30 themed rides, hotels, and restaurants.

At the 2019 Gamescom gaming trade fair in Cologne, Germany, visitors had the opportunity to try out the latest version of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. The event showcased the popular video game and allowed attendees to experience the gameplay firsthand.

The upcoming theme park will include five “world first” rides, including a 230-foot-high roller coaster named Shenron after the series’ iconic magical dragon. In addition to the theme park, Saudi Arabia has made significant investments in video games and anime productions, with collaborations between Japan-based companies like Toei Animation and MiSK.

Qiddiya City is a massive project that aims to offer over 400 attractions to residents and visitors, including a Six Flags park, a waterpark, and various entertainment options. With plans for a Six Flags park, a waterpark, and various entertainment options
