Scarlett Johansson in Discussions to Star in Upcoming ‘Jurassic World’ Film

Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star in Universal’s latest addition to the Jurassic World franchise. The film, directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, is set for release on July 2, 2025. This will be Scarlett’s return to the world of franchises since her successful stint as Black Widow in Marvel Studios movies. Despite her success in superhero films, she has also earned critical acclaim with Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit.

The new Jurassic World movie is a part of the 30-year old franchise that began with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in 1993. The franchise has spawned several sequels including The Lost World (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001). However, the franchise was revived with the release of Jurassic World in 2015. This led to several sequels like Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion (2022), with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard leading the most recent trilogy of films. Filmmaker Colin Trevorrow oversaw these films, and Scarlett Johansson’s potential involvement in the new movie adds to the star-studded cast of the franchise.
