Steelers Strengthen their Quarterback Depth Chart with Signings of Russell Wilson and Kyle Allen

Kyle Allen and Dean Lowry signed by Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making moves to secure their quarterback depth chart. After acquiring Russell Wilson as their backup and trading for Justin Fields, the team has now signed 28-year-old Kyle Allen as their third-string quarterback.

Kyle Allen entered the league as an undrafted rookie with the Carolina Panthers and has since spent time with Washington, Houston, and Buffalo. He started 12 games for the Panthers in 2019, showing enough potential to remain on NFL rosters as a backup quarterback. With his addition to the Steelers’ roster, they now have three quarterbacks on board, with the possibility of adding a fourth camp arm in the future.

In addition to signing Kyle Allen, the Steelers have also added defensive end Dean Lowry to their roster. Lowry previously played for the Minnesota Vikings, appearing in nine games with four starts last season. With these recent acquisitions, the Steelers are looking to bolster their roster and add depth to key positions as they prepare for the upcoming season.
